Thank you so much for your interest in joining REACH the TOP (RTT). We are accountability with support built in. RTT is exclusively for members of REACH.
How can I join?
The first step is to complete the REACH application. We believe this is an such an important step—you cannot skip it! The quickest way to complete the application process is to use the paypal option. If you send a check, the process takes a little longer as we go to the PO Box only 1-2 times per week. Once your REACH application has been processed, you will get a welcome email, including the members only password and an invitation to our online discussion board. Allow us 1 week from the time your payment is received, to hear back about your REACH membership.
The RTT application is on the “members only” homepage. It is only available in printable format to be sent in with a check. If you are ready to start your school year, you can begin documenting days before your RTT membership letter comes in the mail. Bear in mind that we are volunteers. This helps keep our overhead costs down, but can create some delays as we work around our own schedules. Feel free to contact rtt@reachgroup.org with questions. We are happy to help!
Why do I have to join REACH?
3rd option accountability groups trust parents to maintain their child’s educational best interests. RTT does not want to interfere with parents rights about their choices. We hold each other accountable to the minimum standard of the law. But, 3rd option doesn’t mean you have to do it all on your own. We need other resources, encouragement, and activities. REACH stands for Resources, Encouragement, and Activities for Columbia area Homeschoolers. We welcome everyone, regardless of ethnic background, religious belief, or educational philosophy.
By keeping RTT under the REACH umbrella, we encourage our membership to be local. It limits our group geographically. We don’t think we can adequately service homeschoolers from every corner of the state—and still be volunteers. We’re busy homeschooling our kids, too. If we all belong to the same support group, we have a better chance of being personally acquainted with each RTT member. Our paths will cross more often. If you should ever need RTT to vouch for you, we can speak more authoritatively because we know you.
Why the separate steps?
We believe that membership in REACH is an important step…and we don’t want anyone to skip that step. REACH the TOP (RTT) is technically a separate group as any accountability option is. We have a separate bank account, separate PO box, and separate application process. RTT also has separate responsibilities to maintain your legal documentation, should you ever need them.
